Stunning Porsche 908 Short-Tail going under the hammer

Not many ex-Porsche Works prototypes are known to have survived to this day, but this one has. You're looking at an early Porsche 908 iteration also called 908 K from "kurzheck" which in German means "short-tail".

It was built by Porsche with a sole purpose: to compete in the Spa 1000 KM race and for that to happen, it relied on a 3-liter, flat-eight engine making 350 hp.

According to its RM Sotheby's card, this particular model (chassis 908-010) was driven by Jochen Neerpasch at Spa, who suffered the ignominy of losing control on the wet track, which resulted in the car's retirement from the race. Yes, that Jochen Neerpasch, the same man behind the growth of Michael Schumacher and basically the founder of BMW Motorsport GmbH.
