Two special editions for the G-Class show Mercedes-Benz is not giving up on sales

On a second thought, a red G-Class would look up to snuff

Whether it's 2018 or 2019, the current G-Class will pass on the boxy Mercedes legacy to a new generation. But until that happens, the Geländewagen is in line for more special editions.

Two, to be more precise, as it is crystal clear that Mercedes-Benz intends to keep sales levels in a straight line now that exit time is near for the G-Class.

First up is the designo manufaktur treatment available for the G 350 d (€109,878) and G 500 (€121,683).

Besides new body paint choices (designo magma red, designo mystic white and obsidian black), the interior gets infused with Nappa leather, red stitching, and piano black inserts.

Customization options are further split into three packs: Exclusive, Sport and Chrome.

Crossing into AMG territory, the Exclusive Edition is all about more badassness with all-matte-black-everything and AMG bits and bobs. As you'd expect, this limited edition is also the most expensive, down to the fact that it addresses the range-topping G 63 (€163,125) and G 65 (€287,658).
