Audi R8 Spyder V10 plus is one helluva quick convertible

If this doesn’t chase away summer laziness, nothing will

Coming straight from Audi Sport’s workshop with the same V10 as the coupé version, the Audi R8 Spyder V10 plus promises to ripple your face skydiving style once the soft-top goes down.

Needless to say, V10 plus stands for 610 hp (449 kW) and 560 Nm of torque coming from a mid-mounted 5.2-liter FSI powerplant releasing hordes of grunt through Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system for a 0 to 100 km/h blitz of just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 328 km/h (203.8 mph).

For those of you who love facts, here’s something for you: each horsepower of the R8 Spyder V10 plus moves 2.78 kilos (6.1 lb). They call it the R8 V10 plus but it’s lighter than the non-plus R8 V10, as 25 kilos (55 lb) have been cut off for a dry weight of 1,587 kilos (3,498 lb).

Of course, you don’t care about fuel consumption, but for the sake of presenting all the info, Audi says the drop-top range topper drinks 12.5 l/100 km (18.8 mpg US) and can do the coasting trick if the driver lets off the accelerator at speeds over 55 km/h (34 mph).

What you could care about is the optional dynamic steering, which countersteers with tiny impulses for better stability during those moments when cornering lingers on the limit.

Further down the goodies list are a pair of bucket seats, huge ceramic brakes, and Audi’s 12.3-inch digital cockpit screen.

Everything you read so far amounts to a €207,500 starting price in Germany.
