High-Spec Nissan X-Trail X-Cape gets free drone

The drone is a Parrot Bebop 2 which features a photo- and video-ready camera

Nissan has just announced the X-Trail X-Cape, a version of its popular crossover that comes with its own drone thrown in. X-Cape is a special version one tier higher than Tekna, so it’s basically the highest-spec X-Trail you can order right now, at least in terms of kit.

That means you get full leather upholstery, electric heated front seats, NissanConnect infotainment, a panoramic sunroof, roof rails as well as active and passive safety tech that includes Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Signal Recognition.

X-Trail X-Cape is exclusively offered with the 130 PS 1.6-liter diesel engine Nissan borrows from Renault.

The drone is a Bebop 2 by Parrot which features a 14 megapixel camera that can be used for both photography and video, 25 minutes of flight time – it is controlled through the Parrot Skycontroller 2 remote and also offers a first-person view function in the headset provided. Inside the X-Trail, you won’t find a special dock for the drone (which is branded with the Nissan logo), but “a bespoke backpack-style padded storage case” is provided. The drone also has a follow me function, so you can drive the X-Trail and have it keep up without intervention.
