Lexus teases facelifted 2018 NX ahead of Shanghai Auto Show debut

Don’t expect major changes on the styling front, though

The Lexus NX luxury compact crossover has only been around for less than three years, but the automaker is already applying a makeover.

Seen here in a teaser image that only reveals a snippet of the front end, the facelifted 2018 Lexus NX seems to adopt a more conventional design — if that word can be applied to an origami-like piece of automotive sculpture like the NX.

The headlights don't extend on the fenders as much as before, and the signature is updated as well to accommodate new LED clusters. The boomerang-shaped LED DRLs look unchanged, as does the massive spindle grille.

Besides the updated exterior design, Lexus says the 2018 NX adopts interior enhancements that add convenience and functionality. For the moment, the NX is Lexus' smallest SUV, positioned below the midsize RX. However, the automaker has confirmed that it would put the smaller UX crossover concept into production.

We'll get to know and see more of the 2018 NX on April 19, when the crossover will debut at the Auto Shanghai 2017.
