2017 North American and European Car of the Year Finalists Announced

The best American and European cars fight for the title

This year saw lots of promising new cars being launched, but the 2017 finalists might give us an idea of what the best sellers of North America and Europe will be.

2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year

The finalists for the 2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year awards have been selected from an expanded lists of 30 semifinalists. European and Japanese cars fight for the title with American cars, and the results will most probably mirror what sales are already showing: pickups and SUVs are up, smaller passenger cars are down.

Car of the Year:

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

2017 Genesis G90

2017 Volvo S90

Truck of the Year:

2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty

2017 Honda Ridgeline

2017 Nissan Titan

Utility Vehicle of the Year:

2017 Chrysler Pacifica

2017 Jaguar F-Pace

2017 Mazda CX-9

The winners will be announced at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in January.

European Car of the Year 2017

In Europe, we get seven finalists for the European Car of the Year 2017 award (COTY 2017). Could it be that this year we'll finally have a winner from the premium/luxury segment? We have to wait and see until spring 2017.

Here are the COTY 2017 finalists:

Alfa Romeo Giulia

Citroen C3

Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Nissan Micra

Peugeot 3008

Toyota C-HR

Volvo S90/V90

The winner will be announced at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, in March 2017.
