Packages and special editions are not a novelty in the industry and as far as such offerings go, there’s not a single carmaker out there that’s not following the trend, some with less enthusiastic press releases. But not Chevrolet.

Chevrolet says the 2019 Suburban RST Performance Pack is for when “you want to hustle.” To back that claim up, here’s what it brings to the table.

First, customers get a 6.2-liter V8 pushing 420 hp and 460 lb-ft married to the Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission plus a magnetic ride control setup. For those not accustomed to the latter, it electronically adapts damping according to the road condition for extra comfort and better control when negotiating corners.

On the hey-look-at-me front, Chevy fitted the Suburban RST Performance Pack with a Borla dual side exhaust said to improve gas flow by 28%. Brembo brakes are also on the menu, together with red-painted aluminum calipers and Duralife 410 x 32 mm rotors.

Chrome bits and bobs are dead and gone and replaced by a body-color grille surround and door handles, gloss-black grille and mirror caps plus black roof rails, window trim and Chevy bowtie badges. Rounding up the package is a set of 22-inch wheels wearing Bridgestone P285/45R 22 tires.
