The 2019 Subaru WRX gets the same edition too

Subaru has released the 2019 WRX and 2019 WRX STI models in the United States, and both performance sedans receive several upgrades for the new model year.

Starting off with the range-topping 2019 WRX STI, the main update regards the 2.5-liter turbocharged Boxer engine which now delivers 310 hp — a supplement of 5 hp over the 2018 model.

That’s the same output as the WRX STI Type RA limited edition, and engineers have squeezed the additional power via a new air intake, high flow performance exhaust, retuned ECU, and stronger pistons. The six-speed manual transmission has also been revised and now features a modified third gear ratio for faster acceleration. The 2019 Subaru WRX STI starts at $36,595 — $500 higher than the 2018 model.

Also new for 2019 is the limited-edition WRX STI Series.Gray model, which combines a Cool Gray Khaki exterior, exclusive Crystal Black Silica badging and foldable exterior mirrors, as well as black 19-inch alloy wheels and silver-painted Brembo brake calipers with black STI logo.

Inside, the limited-run model offers Ultrasuede upholstery with Carbon Black Leather bolsters, Ultrasuede steering wheel with red stitching, Recaro Seats with 8-way power driver’s seat, and Keyless Access with Push-button start.

The 2019 Subaru WRX STI Series.Gray gains a hardware upgrade too in the form of a Bilstein STI sport-tuned suspension featuring Bilstein dampers for the inverted-strut front suspension and double wishbone rear suspension. Only 250 units of the WRX STI Series.Gray will be made, each priced at $39,695.

A rear vision camera is also standard.

Prices for base 2019 WRX models begin at $27,195, which is $200 more than the 2018 model. The 2019 WRX Premium now comes standard with the Starlink 7.0-inch Multimedia Plus system, as well as a rear vision camera, 18-inch alloys, all weather package, and power moonroof. The Premium model is priced from $29,495, while the range-topping Limited trim starts at $31,795.
