Audi RS 5 DTM Is the Real Bad Boy at the Geneva Motor Show

It’s more powerful but generates less downforce

With over 500 hp and killer looks, the Audi RS 5 DTM is bound to turn a handful of heads at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

The extreme aerodynamics flaunted by the RS 5 DTM are evident from bumper to bumper to the side skirts to the massive rear wing that's overseeing the racer.

By the way, Audi says the wing features two flaps, and just like Formula 1 weaponry, its top was flattened.

With the new regulations aiming to make cars harder to handle, the downforce had to be reduced.

Subsequently, ride height has gone up, but so has the power output cranked out by the 4.0-liter V8 engine of the Audi RS 5 DTM, which is now rated at north of 500 hp.

The power boost happened after some tweaking on the air intake cooling systems, but the engineering team also kept an eye on reliability-related mods, as the engine will have to last for a full, grueling season.
