Can a BMW i8 Keep Up With an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio?

The odds are stacked against it in this company, but it’s by no means a slouch

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is one of the hottest performance cars out there at the moment, featuring a fire-snorting Ferrari-fettled V6 with 510 hp hidden under its elongated hood. The BMW i8 too had its moment of maximum press, even though the attention it garnered was a result of very different qualities.

It’s a properly fast car too, the BMW, weighing nearly 200 kg less than the Alfa, having a combined horsepower output of 362 hp and putting all that power down via a grippy all-wheel drive system.

The Italian sedan is still half a second faster to 100 km/h, though, putting down a time of 3.9 seconds. Even so, a drag race featuring the two cars is an interesting prospect, which is why the video posted here is highly watchable.

Plus you get to hear more of the Alfa’s throaty exhaust note as it gets ready for the run.
