Horrific car crash leaves one dead, 45 injured near Aichi, Japan

When Fast & Furious stunts get real, it’s a tragedy

In real life, spectacular crashes like the ones in the Fast & Furious franchise can lead to tragedies. In this case, tragedy was averted only by a miracle.

Masamitsu Ikuma, a 62-year-old doctor who was speeding on the Tomei Expressway in Shinshiro, Aichi Prefecture, ended up crossing the center divider and crashing into the front of a bus. The doctor died on the spot, and the scene looked like the aftermath of war.

Fortunately, among the 47 people on the bus, only six suffered broken bones and the others minor injuries, the police said. The bus driver escaped miraculously with an injury to the head, while others were hit by broken glass.

According to Japan Times, the accident closed the expressway between the Toyokawa Interchange in Aichi and Mikkabi Junction in Shizuoka for about five hours.
