The G90 is the first model to be sold under the new Genesis premium sub-brand; it replaces the Equus
Hyundai chose the 2016 Detroit motor show to reveal the all-new Genesis G90 outside of Korea. The G90 is the first model to be sold under the new Genesis premium sub-brand; it replaces the old Equus and it was shown alongside the former Hyundai Genesis now badged G80.
The North American debut was accompanied by a raft of technical details which weren’t specified before. We now know for sure it will get its power from either a 365 hp twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 or a larger naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 making 420 hp.
The latter is quoted as being able to sprint to sixty in just over 5.5 seconds .
When it goes on sale later in the year, it will be available in a range of five paint finishes, feature all the luxury and convenience features you’d expect in something like a BMW 7-Series or Audi A8 and undercut those cars in terms of price.
It also promises to be especially quiet and vibration-free as this was apparently a point of extra focus for the engineers developing the car. What they did was clad the interior in a sound-absorbent materials and also gave it double-glazed windows all around.
