Mercedes-AMG S 63 Cabriolet Gets “Edition 130” For Detroit Motor Show

Mercedes-AMG S 63 4Matic Cabriolet “Edition 130” is the S-Class Cabriolet’s first special version

Set to be built in a very limited number (130 units) the special version marks 130 years since Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler invented the automobile in 1886. The exclusive Mercedes-AMG S 63 4Matic Cabriolet "Edition 130" distinguishes itself from other models in the range thanks to exquisite appointments including the dedicated high-gloss Alubeam Silver paint finish, the Bordeaux red fabric top, and the matte black 20-inch 10-spoke wheels with high-sheen rim flanges.

Each of the 130 cars will get an exclusive design, Nappa leather upholstery in Bengal red/black or optionally crystal grey/black, as well as trim elements in AMG carbon/piano lacquer black. The limited edition nature of the car is highlighted by a badge placed on the center console and an engraving on the steering wheel. Other unique details include the red brake calipers and floor mats with Bengal red or crystal grey edging.

Besides all these features, every customer receives a tailor-made AMG Indoor Car Cover with the embroidered lettering "Edition 130 – 1 of 13", as well as an Edition 130 badge key ring and an aluminum box for the vehicle key.

Nothing changes under the hood, with the S 63 Cabriolet "Edition 130" featuring the same 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine from the regular S 63 Cabriolet rated at 577 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. Performance numbers remain equally impressive, with 3.9 seconds needed to complete the 0 to 100 km/h sprint and a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited).

Exclusivity doesn't come cheap, though, particularly Mercedes-Benz exclusivity. The "Edition 130" has a list price of €226,457 in Germany (including 19 percent VAT). If you're still interested, market launch begins in April 2016.
