Mercedes-Benz has announced pricing in Germany for its range-topping roadster
Available from April 2016 with four powertrains, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL starts from just under €100,000 in its home market. The €99,097.25 price corresponds to the base SL 400, which comes with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine rated at 367 PS and 500 Nm of torque.
The SL 500 adds two cylinders, with power coming from by a 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 455 PS and 700 Nm of torque. Pricing for this version starts at €122,897.25.
At the top of the lineup sit two Mercedes-AMG versions, the V8-powered SL 63 and the V12-powered SL 65. The former model features a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 585 PS and an impressive 900 Nm of maximum torque. Compared with the SL 500, the SL 63's starting price rises to €161,691.25.
Finally, the range-topping SL 65 is one of the most powerful and most expensive Mercedes-Benz models on sale today. With 630 PS and 1,000 Nm from a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, the SL 65 has an eye-watering €239,933.75 starting price in Germany.
The 2017 SL brings a series of updates including a refreshed front end, more powerful engines, the new nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, as well as new technologies such as Dynamic Select with five transmission modes and Active Body Control with the curve tilting function.
The refreshed Mercedes-Benz SL has also become more practical, thanks to the addition of an automatic boot separator and the fact that opening or closing the soft-top can now be completed at speeds of up to 40 km/h.
