The Noble M600 supercar may soon gain an open-top variant
However, that may change in the near future as Noble aims to release a drop-top version of the M600 as well.
You don’t need to use your imagination in order to picture the M600 roadster in your mind, as Noble Automotive has actually built a prototype car called the Speedster 600. Unveiled at the Autosport International show in early 2015, the drop-top model should start production by mid-year – provided everything goes according to Noble’s plans.
Predictably, the Noble 600 Speedster sources its mechanical components from the M600 coupe. This means it’s powered by the same 4.4-liter V8 engine supplied by Yamaha and Volvo, accompanied by two variable-boost Garrett turbochargers. Since the V8 engine is offered in three states of tune (450 hp, 550 hp and 650 hp) on the M600 coupe, the same should apply to the Speedster 600 as well.
However, while the M600 gets a six-speed manual transmission from Graziano, the Speedster 600 comes with a sequential paddle-shift gearbox. Performance-wise, the Speedster 600 should deliver the same thrills as the coupe – with the added benefit of the open air experience, of course.
While Noble says the Speedster 600 will enter production by the end of summer 2015, don’t rush to the bank to write a check yet. The launch date may be pushed back as it usually happens when a small-scale car manufacturer brings a new model to the market.
