South Park Trolls White House, Church of Scientology, Canadian Border With Mobile Billboards

It is the South Park way… of promoting its 20th season

South Park recently turned 20 in which time some 267 episodes were aired. To mark the start of its 20th season, the animated comedy series set up a series of mobile billboards on trucks and moved them around to troll various places mentioned on the show.

They went on to troll places like the White House and Lincoln Memorial, the Church of Scientology, the HQ of the Mormon church, Facebook HQ, Trump Tower, as well as Hillary Clinton’s New York HQ and even the Canadian border.

The billboards featured stills from the episode in which the respective place or landmark was mentioned.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the stunt prompted reactions other than pleasant. The South Park trucks were apparently met with negativity at the White House and Lincoln memorial, as well as at the Church of Scientology headquarters.

It quotes Walter Levitt, chief marketing officer for Comedy Central, who said "We knew it was risky. We knew some locations might not be pleased to have us out there, but we thought this was a perfect way to celebrate everything the series has covered in its 19 seasons. We did this stunt because we thought it was a great way to remind South Park fans of all the amazing moments of the past 19 seasons and truly a perfect way to celebrate the 20th season.”
