There’s now a drift taxi for a sideways view of Ebisu complex in Japan

Any and all drift fans have heard of Ebisu, a magical place made of tire smoke and white knuckles

Germany’s Nurburgring has the Ring Taxi and Japan’s Ebisu has the drift taxi, it’s really that simple. Ebisu is quite a famous drift-focused complex of racing circuits where you can now rent the aforementioned drift taxi to give you a tour of the facility… seen head-on through the car’s side glass.

Track officials created the drift taxi to not only offer tours, but also show prospective future drifters what it feels like. You’re obviously not allowed to drive the drift taxi (a modified Toyota JZX110 Mk2 pushing 450+ hp), but you will be taken around by an experienced drifter whose racing overalls mimic wearing a suit and tie – only in Japan…

One word of warning, though: if you know you’re prone to getting car sick, then do by all means request to sit up front with the driver and not in the rear where the range of motion (and chance of upsetting your stomach) is far greater. Other than that it’s a destination and activity that will be sure to please any petrolhead.
