Behold the power of quattro

Mind you, the quattro all-wheel-drive system alone is not the sole reason why this Audi RS3 has a new hobby.

Audi’s RS arm doesn’t have drag racing in mind whenever it spawns a new performance model. APR, on the other hand, is hunting for 9-second passes.

For that to happen, the Alabama-based tuner that specializes in tweaking Volkswagens and Audis took a 2018 Audi RS3 powered by a 2.5-liter TFSI powerplant and gave it a new purpose via a set of improvements.

The mods see the sedan’s rear seats being removed, as well as ECU and TCU upgrades. Plus, the standard wheels are also out of the picture and replaced by Hoosier drag radials.

According to APR’s dyno tests, the RS3 now delivers over 600 hp at the wheels but “makes for an excellent daily driver” due to the turbo’s moderate size. It can also reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill in 2.44 seconds.

As you’ll see in the video below, the fastest run recorded saw the RS3 clear the quarter mile in 9.83 seconds at 144 mph (232 km/h). Are you still looking to buy a Dodge Demon?
