Three new editions suggest the BMW 3 Series will stay around for a while

When you need a facelift, but you settle for a special edition

After subtle nose jobs for the 1 Series and 2 Series coupé and cabrio, both the BMW 3 Series sedan and the Touring variant get new equipment that helps them keep customer interest high.

Marketed as the Edition Sport Line Shadow, the Edition Luxury Line Purity, and the Edition M Sport Shadow, the three packs can be had regardless of engine variant and in addition to the existing trims.

Edition Sport Line Shadow brings black headlight and taillight inserts, chrome black exhaust pipes and 18-inch Jet Black double-spoke alloys.

A new steering wheel, leather/fabric sports seats, and a new interior trim called Dark Aluminium Carbon with Pearl Gloss Chrome.

Next up is Luxury Line Purity with satin-finish exterior inserts and 17-inch light alloy wheels. As an option, customers can swap these for the larger 19-inch wheels, but these are offered exclusively on the Luxury Line Purity.

The cockpit gets the Fineline Light wood trim adorned with Pearl Gloss Chrome – BMW says this is a first inside the 3 Series sedan and wagon – plus a new steering wheel.

Last but not least, Edition M Sport Shadow – and in our book the most poignant edition of the three – earns a black kidney grille, Chrome Black tailpipes, black inserts everywhere and 19-inch M alloys.

For extra sportiness, BMW will even throw in an all things M: sports suspension, aero pack, 18-inch alloys, the leather-covered steering wheel and door sills.
