We doubt the real deal will look like this, but fingers crossed

Presented last year at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the BMW X2 prototype should make way for a production model late 2017 or early 2018.
Our in-house pixel manipulator came up with a couple of renderings that illustrate a possible production-ready X2 heavily inspired by the concept.
It's too early to launch design suppositions, but what we do know so far is that the X2 will pave the way for a new design language in BMW's X-badged lineup, which could then become contagious and spread throughout the Bavarians' range.

According to BMWBlog, the forces animating the X2 will come from three and four-cylinders force-fed engines.
The same outlet mentions that for Europe, BMW has in store a 1.5-liter three-cyl petrol powerplant and a 2.0-liter diesel as entry level options.
If the US market is a target for the BMW X2, then don't expect any diesels, but rather a new 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline unit codenamed B48.
