What’s your favorite open-top Mercedes-Benz?

Mercedes’ finest selection of convertibles awaits you

When the top drops in the automotive universe, Mercedes-Benz shines through some truly beautiful models. Offered in roadster, Cabriolet, and even landaulet guise, the Mercs will find just the sans-top posh car you desire and deserve. In the clip below you can see the brand’s suggestion for the best five convertibles in Mercedes’ history.

The top five starts off with the 549-hp Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster, before going back in time a few decades to the 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet, a vehicle that’s as rare as it is luxurious. Since only 1,232 V8-powered 280 Cabrio units were made, fetching one requires pockets at least three times deeper than for the modern GT C Roadster, and a bit of luck: back in 2015, one has been sold for $429,000 during Sotheby’s Monterey auction.

At the core of this top sits the actual S-Class Cabriolet, a vehicle that looks like a wet dream on wheels, that can be bought with money. A thing you can’t say about the model that occupies the second position, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet, a wet dream for which your money aren't good enough.

In case you haven’t guessed yet, the best cabriolet in Mercedes’ own list is the 300 SL Roadster, the sans-roof version of the car that showed America that Mercedes can build high-performance sports cars as well: the 300 SL Gullwing.

A notable absence, in our books, is the W113 300 SL Roadster also known as Pagoda, a car you love more and more with every picture, and every YouTube clip it features in. While at it, why not the Maybach G 650 Landaulet as well? We think it’s just the right mix of opulence and casualness that’d get you on this kind of list.

Is your favorite Merc included in this top five? Which one is it?
