Watch a brief reminder of what a slingshot on wheels the Audi R8 V10 Plus is

The guinea pig is the Nissan’s GT-R this time

A decade has passed since we’ve seen the GT-R for the first time. A long period during which Nissan’s supercar, through its continuous upgrades, kept us impressed with its ability to launch off the line. Times have changed though — and so did many of the stock GT-Rs.

Audi’s R8 V10 Plus uses an all-wheel-drive system too (the well-known quattro) but, unlike the Japanese model, comes with a 5.2-liter V10 engine tweaked to deliver 610 hp. The GT-R’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 is good for 565 horsepower.

Had it been dueling with a stock R8, the GT-R would have had the upper hand, or at least a fair fight. But this is not about who’s winning, but rather by what margin. To put this differently, it’s a brief and welcome reminder of what a slingshot the R8 can be when you step on the gas pedal.
