We live different times, that’s for sure
Eight years into this world, the Nissan GT-R feels a bit outdated, design-wise. And, as this clip shows, the performance bit isn’t untouchable either.
Top Gear thought about bringing a GT-R and an Audi TT RS together on a drag strip, for a good ‘ol head-to-head straight line sprint. The results are amazing, and not for the Japanese supercar.
Audi's all-wheel-drive quattro system, mated to a 7-speed automatic, is good enough to take the 3,306-lb (1,500 kg) TT RS to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. A 394 hp (400 PS) 5-cylinder turbocharged lump does the pushing.
GT-R’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 comes, in its latest iteration, with about 565 hp (573 PS) and 467 lb-ft (633 Nm), enough to propel the car to 60 mph in God-knows-what-time.
If we talk about weights, the GT-R is the favorite here. On the scales, though, the Japanese is some 626 pounds (284 kilos) fatter than its German contender here. How much does that matter? Watch the clip below to find out.
