Audi Q7 Piloted Driving Concept Is Powered by NVIDIA

Audi and NVIDIA are now partners in developing self-driving cars

Audi has just announced its partnership with tech giant NVIDIA in order to develop its future autonomous driving products. The automaker wants to implement artificial intelligence (AI) using NVIDIA chips, software and neural network knowhow.

The first fruit of their joint venture is the Q7 Piloted Driving Concept which was showcased at CES 2017 – it features “deep learning technology” which “will enable skilled handling of real-road complexities, delivering safer automated vehicles earlier.” Audi chose to let it do its adaptive autonomous driving thing in the parking lot outside the venue hall in Las Vegas.

There the automaker created a small course for it to run and had a company rep move an obstacle into and out of its path to show how it adapts on the fly. When faced with an unforeseen obstacle, the concept seems to be able to reassess its route as it drives, a maneuver you can see it autonomously execute in the video posted here.
