Adding dark details for a more sinister look works wonders for the luxury sedan’s appearance
The Bentley Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition is just what its name says it is: the automaker's way of giving a more dynamic look to its luxury sedan by adding a suite of dark exterior and interior features.
On the outside, the smoked headlights and taillights also get black bezels, while the grille and window surrounds, headlight washer caps and door-handle inserts gain a striking gloss black finish. The Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition also offers exclusive 21-inch seven-spoke Elegant alloy wheels in a gloss black finish. Customers can have the brake calipers in black as well or in red.
Step inside, and the dark theme continues through the stitched leather hide applied to the seat center panels, black headliner, and Piano Black veneer. The Black Edition comes as standard with a three-spoke Sport Plus steering wheel as well. For customers who want something different inside, Bentley offers the full range of colors and combinations for the cabin.
In addition, when commissioned with the Mulliner Driving Specification, the sedan adds diamond-quilted hides in the seat and door panels, complete with contrast stitching. Customers also have a choice of two 21-inch five-spoke Directional Sport wheel finishes in gloss black or dark tint.
The 4.0-liter V8 engine retains the same specification as in the standard Flying Spur V8 S, which means it delivers 528 metric horsepower and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks also to the standard four-wheel-drive system with a 40:60 front/rear torque split, the big sedan covers the 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in 4.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 306 km/h (190 mph).
Think that's not fast enough? Then the 635-hp Bentley Flying Spur W12 S with its 202 mph (325 km/h) top speed is the one you want.
