Mercedes teases next-gen Sprinter van

Will debut in the first half of 2018 promising increased versatility and bold new front end design

Mercedes will introduce an all-new Sprinter commercial vehicle next year and it promises to not only look really cool but also be a better van than its predecessors. The automaker has not yet shown what the production vehicle will look like, but it has released a teaser.

Through the teaser it became quite obvious that the automaker had already previewed the next Sprinter with its Vison Van Concept (pictured) from 2016. The vehicle show in the teaser looks like a more toned down interpretation of that design, but one that retains most of its design cues.

The teaser’s accompanying press release says nothing about the possible electrification of the next Sprinter, even if the Vision Van was fully electric and it didn’t even have a steering wheel inside.

Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans said "We want to do more than just build the best vehicles. We want to offer the most suitable mobility solution for every sector and for every transport assignment. And that is precisely our focus with the upcoming Sprinter generation as an overall system solution. It also goes without saying that the new edition of our iconic van possesses the classical attributes of reliability, safety and cost-effectiveness.”
