Rare BMW M4 DTM grabs Mercedes-AMG GT R by the collar

In a drag race, of course, but can it finish the job?

You know, BMW only built 200 BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition models, so getting your hands on one could turn into a nuisance. On the other hand, the Mercedes-AMG GT R is not impressed by the Bavarian’s exclusivity, so they took the quarrel to the track.

Orchestrated by Cars.co.za, this drag race doesn’t involve muscle cars, but some of Germany’s fiercest performance vehicles. Even so, it is nothing short of spectacular even with the car standing still and by just looking at their spec sheets.

Right, specs. The Merc-AMG has a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 and blasts to 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 3.6 seconds.

In the other corner, the M4 DTM – which at its core is an M4 GTS – uses a 3-liter twin-turbo straight six and can clear the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) interval in 3.8 seconds.

The AMG also has the advantage of more power, but is that really enough to make it a winner? That’s up to you to discover in the video below.

And here you can watch two Lamborghinis plowing a field at 200 mph.
