2018 Jaguar XJR575 takes over as brand’s flagship performance sedan

It’s the most powerful XJ ever. And the quickest. And the most expensive

A more hardcore version of the Jaguar XJR was rumored for a while, but now it's for real.

Jaguar aims to compete with performance luxury sedans like the Mercedes-AMG S 63, and the XJR575 is its big gun. More potent than any previous XJ, the XJR575 can hit 186 mph (300 km/h) and needs 44 seconds to reach that speed from a standstill. That may not sound too quick, but you should know the 0-100 km/h sprint takes just 4.4 seconds.

As with most JLR performance models, the Jaguar XJR575 is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that makes 575 metric horsepower and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Available in standard and long-wheelbase body styles, the XJR575 offers just two bespoke exterior colors: Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey.

Other distinguishing styling tweaks include a rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper and lower air intakes featuring Gloss Black surrounds, updated XJR575 exterior badging and twin bonnet louvers, as well as 20-inch Farallon gloss-black wheels with red painted brake calipers.

There are some unique interior design touches as well, including bespoke embossed tread plates and diamond-quilted seating surfaces.

The Jaguar XJR575 also benefits from a series of 2018MY upgrades for the entire XJ lineup which include the latest Touch Pro infotainment system with a larger 10-inch central touchscreen and 4G Wi-Fi, plus new safety features including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Driver Condition Monitoring for rear-wheel-drive models.

The 2018 Jaguar XJ lineup, including the XJR575, goes on sale from autumn 2017 in Europe. You can already order one, with prices starting from £93,710 in the UK (about $121,800 at the current exchange rates).
