Less is more, basically
There's one trait that glues together all the sports cars roaming this planet's roads and tracks: lightness.
Cars like the Mazda MX-5 and Alpine A110 showed the world that you don't need a rainfall of horsepower to create a quick, nimble and thrill-inducing sports car. This also applies to Porsche.
Carmakers will do their utmost to cut down kilos off the hips of their offsprings and sometimes, this means resorting to extreme measures. Take the Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 Sport, for example.
It tipped the scales at just 975 kg, which was 100 kg less than the 911 Carrera 2.7 Touring version. How was that possible?
Porsche stripped off the interior by removing the rear seats, dashboard clock, passenger sunshield and door arms. Couple that with the 210 hp output of the rear-positioned engine and you get a scalpel-like sports car.
And guess what? We didn't even tell you about the really hardcore weight-saving at Porsche. But that's for you to discover in the video below.
