Chevrolet is the best-selling brand of the General Motors Giant and is one of the oldest car companies in the world. Louis Chevrolet and ousted General Motors founder William C. Durant started the company on November 3, 1911, as the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. As fate would have it, Durant used Chevrolet to acquire a controlling number of shares in General Motors in 1918. Subsequently, he once again became the president of General Motors.

This would not last long, as in 1919 Durant was once again replaced as head of GM. The new boss was Alfred Sloan. Under his leadership the motto "a car for every purse and purpose" would make Chevrolet the best-selling brand in America, beating Ford.

The brand has almost completely abandoned Europe in 2016, selling only the Camaro and Corvette in this part of the world.

The current focus for Chevrolet is North America and Asia. In North America, the brand boasts a large selection of models, mostly mass market ones, starting with the small Spark, and going up to performance vehicles such as Camaro and Corvette.

However, from the current lineup most of the profits come from SUVs and Trucks, where Chevrolet shines with models such as Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, and Silverado.

Chevrolet is also one of the pioneers in hybrid and electric vehicles, offering two such models: Volt (that has already reached its second generation) and the newer Bolt EV. The Volt boasts a 53 mile (85 km) range in full electric mode, with a total range of 420 miles (676 km) using its petrol range-extender, while the Bolt EV offers 238 miles (383 km) of purely electric driving.
